Thumbs up After 10 years, and several cars later, first Subaru.

Hi from Los Angeles!

After 10 years and several cars later, I finally joined the Subaru family last month. I had always eyed the wrx (non sti, because let's be real, none of us are rally drivers on the weekend), but my life style has always been more suited for SUV's and 4x4s.

history of cars:
98 Honda Passport - first love
02 Acura TL - teenage jdm days
00 Isuzu Trooper - second love. amazing underrated 4x4
06 VW GTI - the time i swore off to never drive FWD "performance" cars ever again.
00 Isuzu Trooper (back to the trooper)
14 KIA Optima Hybrid - biggest waste of my life. MPG's are worse than a lexus 300 with v6 engine.

--

So here is my new 18' premium CVT white crosstrek.
about 2 weeks together, and have already taken it out for 4 different off road/backwoods trips.

-

The first two "mods" that I have on my must do list
window tints - its always 90+ in Los Angeles
skid plates - looking at primitive racing 3 piece. unless there are better recommendations out there.

-
This is a whole new world to me.

Welcome to the club!

Since you're new to the brand, I highly recommend you check out the "New to Subaru" thread as well as the break-in procedures if your Subaru vehicle is still within the first 1000 miles, if you haven't already.

The Honda Passport is essentially an Isuzu Rodeo, so I think it's safe to say you've got quite a bit of experience with Isuzu's passenger vehicle offerings.

Besides the skid plates, you also may want to consider switching the tires to all-terrains, if your thirst for adventure is strong enough to overcome the stock tires.

thank you! I passed the first 2000 miles on it already, and yes I was gentle and followed the break in guide both for engine and breaks.

Im very tempted for AT tires, but would love to read up on some info about how badly it affects mpg. the crosstrek feels very overbuilt for what it is already.

Currently on my 18 (in white ) im averaging about 29/30 MPG per tank.

Tho my daily commute is 30 miles each way (about 26 of it highway).

Im running the Anderson Design Fab 1.5" lift with 235/75/15 BGF KO2.
