My Vehicle: 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek 5MT
Default AWDfreak's 2014 Subaru XV 5-speed manual

album link: My Car - Album on Imgur

well since I KNOW I'm going to be modding this a little bit, and taking quite a few pictures, I decided to start this journal.

First, I'll post the pictures I've already uploaded so far.

Looks like you will be adding lots of weight. You might get away with making that up with a homemade carbon fiber hood.

I'm actually curious of ways I can reduce weight directly on the car. More specifically, reduce weight on the higher portions of the vehicle. A lighter hood sounds nice, but even better would be a lighter roof (such as the STI S206's carbon fiber roof).

I forgot to state my long-term goal of reducing weight on the upper portions of the body and chassis. Because of the cost, complexity, and custom work required for such a goal with a platform with little aftermarket support, it is not on my priority list and is more of a slight performance increase.

To reduce weight by 16%, I would create carbon fiber rims, hood, rear hatch, steering wheel, wing, racks, and bumpers... A lot of that is attached by clips. With this amount of weight reduction, there should be a up to a 12% increase in horsepower and quicker handling.

I'm digging your mods AWDfreak. Quick question on the Primitive engine skid plate. Do you completely remove the plastic engine cover? Or can you trim it so you still have the sides that run up the engine bay?

You have done more to your XV in the short time that you've owned it than I have in the 18 months that I've owned mine. Everything looks really good, especially the stickers !
