Default Quieter Muffler

I have a new '18 crosstrek and just came over from a honda civic. I miss how quiet that car was. In the crosstrek I seem to really notice engine/exhaust noise around 2,000rpm. Is there a way to quiet this down, like an after market muffler? I know most people get mufflers that make their vehicles louder, but I like the car nice and quiet. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I don't believe that it is the actual exhaust you are hearing. Most new cars today have a fake exhaust note that is piped in through the sound system. Car companies are doing this to give the engine a more pleasing sound. Todays engines are full of many complex parts that tend to sound horrible, so they mask it with a more pleasing exhaust note. I know that my 2017 ford f150 has it and it sure sounds like it in my 2018 crosstrek.

I doubt they are using fake engine sounds.
One thing I’m certain of is that this engine sounds really s...y when it is cold.
Something to do with the miles of stainless pzev catalytic converters along for the ride.
I think when warm the revs are really quite smooth.

Thanks for the input. When on the highway I can put it into manual mode and drop down a gear which will get me out of that rpm range. But this is kind of annoying to do. I just wish there was a way to know why it sounds like that at 2,000rpm and a way to fix it. I test drove another one off the lot and did notice the same sound, so I dont feel anything is broke with mine

I’m sometimes down gently when anticipating a stop but I really don’t use the manual unless i’m In X mode.

I wish mine "2018" was a little louder. I Soooo want the Nameless pipe with 5" muffler, but do not know if it's compatible with the hitch I intend to install.
