Re-calibrating windshield camera needed?

Over the weekend I was watching an episode of Motor Week. And in the Goss's Garage segment they were talking about windshield cameras.
They said that some, but not all, car's cameras have to be re-calibrated when a windshield is replaced. And that you should check with your car's mfg before just agreeing to pay to have that done.

Does anyone know if our Crosstrek's require this for sure? (I can easily imagine the windshield replacement companies saying that it does. LOL)

From what I was able to gather this is how it works.
After a new window is installed the system is capable of detecting a different refractive index from the windscreen. ( minute changes in angle could cause this).
The system detects a new window and immediately shuts eyesight down.
The dealer has a software “button” wich initiates self calibration and after a short ride around the block the system recalibrates itself. One might imagine the two cameras comparing themselves until overlapping elements get imposed on one another.
The vision of a giant screen in front of the car is mostly for tv commercials.

Corning gorilla glass is available for Ford 150’s hopefully soon for Subaru’s.
