Default Hello from Ohio!

Got my club crosstrek stickers put on my XV today so I guess it's time to post a picture! Not seeing too many XV's around here but they seem to slowly be coming about. Hopefully start seeing more soon with fall and winter around the corner. Can't wait to drive in the snow!

Welcome, I think you'll like it here among the Crosstrekers. It's good to have another XV from Ohio too

Yeah , it's a pretty cool forum. I see you are from north east Ohio too. I live in Stow and have only seen two XV's around the area. Are you seeing many?

Jfosnight .... I see you are from Stow. Have a question you may or may not be able to answer. We are giving my daughter our 2004 Forester (wife is getting a new Crosstrek). She will be moving to Akron for 3 years while her boyfriend attends law school there. By chance, do you have any recommendation (first or second hand) for Subaru service there? I guess the two closest dealerships to her are Cascade and Park. Have no idea if there are any good independent Subaru mechanics in the area. Asked this question over on the Forester forum ..... but no luck in getting any replies.

Dennis,

I bought my XV from Cascade in Cuyahoga Falls, but have not used them for service. The salesman had good things to say about the service department, but obviously that's his job. Previously I owned a 2005 Subaru Legacy of which I tried to do most of the work on myself. If I couldn't do it, I used the Ravenna Automotive Service Center (tel # 330-296-9928) in Ravenna. It's about a 30-35 minute drive from Akron. They have always been fair with me, with excellent service and always able to do the work for much less then I have been quoted elsewhere.

Hope this helps and sorry I do not have any recommendations closer to where your daughter will be staying.

Good luck!
Jeff

Jeff -

Thanks. This helps. Same here. Always did the work myself unless I couldn't. She should be good until December or January. I changed the plugs and filters not long ago and just finished changing all of the fluids (except coolant ... which I did last fall). Only thing she'll need to have done is the timing belt replacement along with it's associated idlers and tensioner). Would have done that for her .... but my hands don't work as well as they used to. So, she'll either have to rely on a dealer or independent mech.

Thanks again.
