My Vehicle: Subaru Crosstrek 2013 Silver Ice
Default My fifth Subaru

After a Subie in 1976 and 3 Foresters in the last 15 years my new car is ordered and should be in any day. It's the silver ice Limited.
Some of the options that I ordered are the auto dim mirror, seat back protector, bumper cover, side nets, roof spoiler, side moldings,
all weather mats and aero bars. Didn't want the nav, but to get the moonroof I had to get the nav - don't know why these 2 options are a package. I loved the test drive!

Nice. What did you have in 1976?

It was a four door and all I recall was after only 2 years it had many rust holes and I sold it. They were garbage cars back then. Subie has come a long way from the old days.

Welcome. I don't know why you have to order the Nav with the Moonroof. I wonder if it is a limited thing. I got my premium Crosstrek off the lot with moonroof but no nav. You will enjoy the car.

It is a Limited thing. There were some things we wanted in the Limited, but the moonroof in that model is bundled with nav. I guess Subie feels if you are going to spend more on the Limited they can get a few hundred bucks extra by putting in a nav.

I almost bailed out on Subie with the Forester I'm trading. It has a leaking head gasket and when I spoke to my service guys about it they said it has been a big problem in Subie engines for years. Then I looked up the issue on the web and found tons of references to the issue. I was really turned off since the repair would me $1500+ if I can find someone to do the job well. I decided to trade the 2006 Forester when my dealer offered an unlimited mileage 10-year guarantee on the entire drive train including head gaskets. This is not via third party insurance. I'm sure they are doing this to restore faith in the brand. I also contacted Subie and they acknowledged the problem and even said they would reimburse me 50% if I decided to fix the Forester. With all this and assurance from Subie that the issue is resolved, we went for the Crosstrek. Only time will tell.
