Default New Land Rover to Crosstrek driver - and then off to New Orleans!

We have replaced my 2004 Land Rover Discovery with the new CrossTrek… GOOD GRIEF, we should have done this sooo long ago. It was very odd, when we decided to replace it, we went out looking totally open minded looking at everything from the BMW options to Kia. (which were very cheap feeling and we didn’t like at all)

My wife has driven a BMW 3 series for the last 8 years and the discovery has been mine for about 2 years. The Rover was a beast, but maintenance has been a nightmare and I won’t even get started on the gas!

As soon as we saw the CrossTrek we both stopped and started talking about color. It’s like we both knew that was the one. We both like black but this white one looked so awesome we both wanted to go with the white, even though they had a black one.

It’s VERY nice, backup camera, leather, heated seats, Bluetooth. It’s so nice, my wife has stopped driving the 2011 338, and took the CrossTrek! The next day, she took it to visit her Mother in New Orleans! We are taking it back in in a bit to the Jazz Fest!! Can't wait for that trip.

Apparently I need to find myself something to drive in the meantime…

So, anyone need a very nice BMW?? LOL

I did see something else very interesting on the Subi lot… BRZ??
;-)

Good luck selling the BMW! You could be the first dual XV home that I know of!

I image you could own two nice Crosstreks for the cost of owning either the BMW or Rover.

Sounds like another XV is in the works!

Glad to hear you're [both] enjoying it!

Oh right, the BRZ does look like a blast! I have to take my XV in next week and tried to get my salesman to put me in a BRZ while they have my XV. But he said I'd be miserable sitting in one, being 6'4" and all. A good point, but I'd still love to take one for a spin

Hi again, riverman! Thanks for signing up and posting an introduction. I have always kind of wanted a Land Rover but have heard the fuel and maintenance on them is a nightmare so I have avoided ever buying one. Sounds like the Crosstrek is fitting in great with you and your wife.

The BRZ is a very cool little car; it's supposed to be like whipping a go-kart around. Hopefully within the next year or two they release a BRZ STi, along with a turbo Crosstrek!

Thanks everyone, and yes, I could have paid my first two years payments on the XV for the amount I spent fixing the Land Rover in 2 years. Really! BMW's are good cars, but I would skip the Rovers... ;-)

Trip to New Orleans and back from Little Rock cost us 150 bucks in Premium gas... Now... less than half that. We love the XV and it's good to see a community for help/ideas...

Thanks all.

I had to deliver two brand new Kias, one today and the other yesterday. You are right ... they do feel really cheap. I remember thinking, "this feels like the cheapest **** they could find dressed up to look nice." Traction control??? It's like turning the car off when it kicks in!

I don't want to intrude in this thread and change the subject. But I've been curious about the XV's and I'm 6'4. chasem how is the head clearance in the XV if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks,

H

Funny this should come up. I went out and bought the new LR2 Land Rover. Loved it when I test drove it. So bought it. Brought it home and hated it that night. I don't know.. It just didn't work for me. So gave it to the hubby. Still unsatisfied... One week later went out looking for something else for me. Saw the Trek on the Subaru site so went to he dealer. That's the first time I could *not* wait for a car salesman to come up to me so I could get in it and test drive it. Zipped down the road, came back and bought it.

Any regrets? Not a one. Other than... I wished I had seen he Trek first and would have bought us both one!!

P.S. now hubby wants to drive the Trek. Needless to say... It never happens. Lolol!

Next step: quick pay down on that Rover and its Trek 2 sitting in my garage!

"There's something scary about having wayyyy too much fun" :-)

Don't mind at all. I've never touched the ceiling or come near it. I don't remember exactly how much head clearance I have, but I believe it's around 3". I'm about to head out for a few, I'll roughly measure it and report back if it's far off from that, but basically it's plenty enough for me to not worry about it.
