Default New - No XV Yet

New here, doing my research on what will likely be replacing my 2000 Acura TL-P sometime this year.
The XV is high on my short list. Coming from primarily Hondas, I really don't know much about Subarus, other than wanting a late-model, first-gen 2.5RS for a long time.

Surprisingly, even though my wife loathes wagons/hatchbacks, she actually liked the couple shots of the XV I've shown her.

Hopefully the local dealer has a 5MT in stock when I can find the time to drive down there to check one out. Might cross-compare it with the 5MT Impreza Sport as well, though I like the XV more.

Good luck on finding a 5MT to test drive in the Impreza or the XV. It's "standard" on Subarus, but I'd say the CVT is more common. I've yet to see a 5MT on the lot in either.

If there are no XVs on the lot (very likely, they're selling before the dealerships get them in), driving an Impreza should give you a pretty good idea what to expect from an XV, overall.

Thanks for the heads-up. Last I checked their online inventory, they showed to have an XV & an Impreza in stock with the 5MT. Don't recall if the Impreza was the 5-door Sport though.

Welcome! What drew you to the XV?

Just happened across it online while doing research on replacements for my TL.
Did some reading up on it & short of driving one, really like it. But, I've always been partial to "wagons" even though my wife hates them.

That's fantastic. The dealer nearest me has 3 manual vehicles, two Foresters and a WRX. I hate that manuals are so rare in the US.

Anywho, g'luck on your test drives/purchase. Keep us updated

Hey, Houston, thanks for joining! I know the dealership I bought my Crosstrek at in North Carolina only had one on the lot at a time -- I was the second person in town to buy one and I know after I drove it off the lot it took them at least three weeks to get another to replace it. However, that was a smaller city. Here in LA I always see a few Crosstreks on the Subaru lots so I would assume a few are 5MT.

Why are you going with the 5MT? Do you just like to drive manual more?

That's it. I regret selling my last manual car. I'll probably try the CVT, but I've never driven one that I liked.
Having a 5 or 6 MT & 4 doors are the hard requirements for my next car.

Just wish Subaru would've allowed the 5MT on the Limited XV.

Yeah, it's a shame they don't. It should also really be a 6MT in my opinion. That said, I do love my CVT.

A 6MT XV Limited would be perfect.

Makes you wonder if an XV WRX, or similar, is in the works.
