Default Installing Homelink mirror (afterthought)

My 14 Crosstrek did not include the homelink mirror with garage door buttons. Now that we have an Outback that does have that feature, I am jealous. I want that mirror also.

Will a Homelink mirror from other models work with the existing wiring in my Crosstrek?

I have basically the same question. My 2018 crosstrek did not have the homelink mirror installed. I have dug out the cable above the map lights or it but I am having trouble locating the cable that gpoes between that connector and the homelink mirror that I found online. Al the cables I am finding are 3 pin where as the connector in the car is a 5 pin. Anyone know the part # of that cable or where I can find one? Also which prior year homelink mirrors will work? I have had different dealers tell me different things regarding that.

I do not know if prior year HL mirrors will work, but I know the mirror is an option.

When I ordered my car, I added the HL mirror into it.

I would call a local dealership and get the part number for your specific year/make/trim and then search it online for the best price.

I just picked up a gentex mirror on ebay for $65 and then went to Bob’s Automotive Mirrors and More, LLC | Your Source for Rear view Mirrors, Backup Cameras, Vehicle Interface Kits, and much, much more! to get the cable that runs between the mirror and the wire harness that is stuffed inside the headliner under the map lights. Just had to tell them which gentex mirror it was and that he crosstrek had a 5 pin connector. Cable arrived, mirror installed and works perfectly...way better than paying the dealer $350+ for the option

GenTex is indeed the OEM for Subaru's optional rearview mirrors. Subaru isn't the only one who uses GenTex rearview mirror products, so rest assured a GenTex unit will likely have no issues.

We have the HL both in our 16 trek hybrid and our toyota sienna, last week i went to the u-pull-it salvage yard and grabbed one out of a nissan so i can put it in our miata.

The mirrors have various pins, some have HL + compass, Some have just compass, some have HL + compass + temp. the u-pull -it charged $8 for the wiring and the mirror. ymmv
