Yes it's 6 1/2 inches, you also need to match the ohms' to the radio stock 4 ohms'. Something else to consider the back side of the door/speakers gets allot of moisture, make sure their weather proof. http://www.subaruxvforum.com/forum/i...o-amp-sub.html

I've got one more question. Do you know the size of the tweeters? Thanks again.

6 ohms, this is very odd, but then again Subaru wants you to buy only their high dollar upgraded parts. If you change radios try to match the speaker requirements to the new unit. Googling is such a wonderful way of getting information! http://www.subaruxvforum.com/forum/i...r-upgrade.html

Their 2 inches, grill very easy to lift up. Use a plastic splatcher/putty knife/credit card to pry up. Weird size for speaker and bracket, again Subaru wants you to only buy their stuff! http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Subaru...HS4FKT5081ERN3

So I keep seeing posts about the kicker speakers and the kicker tweeters. can anybody explain to me the difference? Is it a total of 6 units I should replace? (4 speakers and 2 tweeters?)

You can replace as many or as little of the speakers as you want. You have 4-6 1/2 inch door speakers and 2 tweeters in the dash under the grilled corners near the pillars/windsheild. Like billybob said it is important to match the outputs correctly. Tweeters produce the highest frequency noise compared to speakers which depending on the quality can do lower and mid level noises. I'm sure someone else on here can give you a better description of their purposes but that's all I got
