ipod problems with 2016 CrossTrek
The Problem in a Nutshell: After playing music seemingly normally for several songs (sometimes a few songs, sometimes 10 songs... pretty random) it just stops, and the ipod becomes locked, and must be unplugged from the vehicle and reset. It is more likely to become locked if I use the buttons on the vehicle to make any kind of adjustment to the music (pressing a button to skip a song, or scrolling albums, for example).
I know this is a pretty small problem in the grand scheme of things, but it's annoying, takes away from my enjoyment of the vehicle, and it's just not something I would expect from a new vehicle.
A few months ago I did bring the car in to my local dealer, and it was serviced and software was upgraded. Unfortunately, nothing changed.
To check to see if the problem is in fact the ipod itself, or the cord itself, I have taken the iPod and cord and have played it in our Subaru Forester (a 2014 vehicle). It plays no problem in the 2014 vehicle. I've also tried using different cords in the Cross Trek - but no difference in outcome.
Of note - I have an iphone 6, and it plays no problem in the car.
Also - of note (if specs are needed) - my iPod is a 160 GB ipod Classic. This is not a new version of an iPod by any means, which makes me wonder if there's just an incompatibility issue with the newer Subaru vehicle.
I'm just posting here as a shot in the dark - but certainly wondering if anyone has any insights / advice.
Many thanks for your time.
