Default Too much oil in engine, during the winter months mostly.

2018 Crosstrek limited (fully loaded)
I noticed that the oil on the dipstick was over the mark by a couple of inches and smell of fuel. Took it to the dealership for first and second oil changes with the same problem each time, they pretty much denied it saying mechanic error .
I know the CR-V with turbo was having the exact same issue. And I know why it happens on the Honda. But the Crosstrek having the same issue?????? Over boosted direct fuel injector at cold start up???
Anybody else have this problem, and got the dealer to acknowledge the issue?

My 2018 Limited has not had that problem. I have a Fumoto valve installed so that if the oil is overfilled by the mechanic (either myself or the dealership) I can drain off small amounts to ensure that it's not overfull. I know that there are a lot of people who have had issues with the oil being overfilled and it can lead to problems such as you are describing.

It wasn't the oil being overfilled, it was gasoline contaminating the oil from the cold start up and the direct injection. Which the dealership downplayed severely.

Just went and checked, my oil does smell a bit like gasoline. I've got about 2,000 miles on it since the last oil change. It is however, not overfull. It's right where I left it when I last changed the oil.

Take a sample. Send to any certified lab. Demand your warranty repair if you are contaminated. Good luck

You know with the oil burning problem and now this, it might be impossible to tell if you have a serious problem before it's too late.
