Default Eyesight Not Working in Very Cold Start-Up

I ski in New Hampshire where it's not uncommon to get up for first chair and it's -18C/0F. The eyesight says, "Not Working". Has anyone else encounter this? Seems odd --hint, hint Subaru corp. monitors-- that the systems in a car built for cold, inclement weather don't work in cold weather.

Is there frost on the windshield when this happens? Or just cold temp?

I ask, because mine will show not working when I have frost on the windshield, but if too cold, just warm the car up first if this is possible. This is one of the reasons I love remote start.

Many electronic components have a operating temperature range. Having to warm up your car is still not only necessary for the engine in such cold, but also some electronics.

^^^^^I totally agree with every word that has been written. Mine acts like that too. This gives me comfort in knowing when NOT to depend on the system.

Ok, feel better that I’m not alone. No, no frost, just cold. Totally get the part that the electronics are just too cold to work. Just annoyed. Thanks, guys.

Clean the Camera lenses for the system, and make sure there is no frost/snow/ice in front of them.

I had a similar issue in the spring and figured out it was tree sap on the windshield distorting the camera image.

Eye-sight is not sonar based, it's image based. So imagine you wear glasses and you're inside a nice warm house. Then leave your glasses outside and let them frost over. Can you see out of them? And when leaving a garage, same thing, walk out your door and they'll fog over.
