Default Lift causing tyre rub

I have just lifted my Crosstrek using a 1" spacer and now with my new 225/60r17 Geolandars, the rears are rubbing and are not centered.

I'm getting mixed info as to what is best, a trailing arm spacer or a sub frame spacer.

Anyone done a spacer kit to fix this problem.

Was the vehicle lifted without getting a suspension alignment done?

As far as I know, I believe fellow moderator RallyeBourne got a shop to make a custom extended control arm.

It was just a 1" strut lift, so we didn't think it would result in such a drastic change to the rear wheel placement.

Yeah. I've been saying this so much on these forums.... I'm a broken record... you can't change ONE PIECE of the suspension without disrupting the ENTIRE geometry. EVERYTHING must be altered, not one piece.

The irony in this, is that to achieve more lift you lift the spring/top hat area, when you do this you throw roll center way above ground (or way below it if you lower a car). Now your camber curve is off. To correct this you'll have to lower the control arm mounting pivot, when you lower the mounting pivot the control arm goes BACK TO THE SAME PLACE. Effectively undoing all ground clearance gained. Sure the car sits higher, but the suspension points are back to square one, you only did a body lift. The only thing you can do is lift the car, and space everything in the suspension down the same amount, which would allow you to run a larger tire. A taller tire is what gives more suspension ground clearance. But, oh no's! You cant run a bigger tire because the wheel well isn't large enough, this means fender trimming, but oh no's! There isn't any room to trim the fenders because that would involve hacking into a fairly new car's frame! Egad! What to do??? Leave it stock.
