The front brakes are responsible for carrying a larger portion of the overall weight of the car and need to work harder to hold back that weight.
This is why you often see performance cars with huge front calipers and smaller rears. The WRX is a prime example of this.
You state that you were at a "tire place". I don't trust those kinds of places at all
. Did you see the pads for yourself? I would do my own visual inspection and if the rears are indeed wearing faster than the fronts you need to visit your dealer.
Or stop driving backwards everywhere!
