Default Bookmark Threads Feature

Based off a PM I received earlier today asking for a way to more easily organize certain threads on the forum, I started looking into ways for users to "save" threads that they are interested in. This is useful because it will help users keep track of all the information that is being posted on ClubCrosstrek every day.

What I found isn't a perfect solution, but it is a good jumping off point. It is called "Bookmarks" and basically adds a button at the top of each thread that allows you to save the thread in your own bookmarks profile.

You just click Add Bookmark:

View your saved bookmarks:

Bookmarks folder:

This way, every time you find a useful bit of information you may want to come back to later, or see a user post about a Crosstrek mod that you want to do later down the road, you can save the thread into your bookmarks folder and more easily find it later.

A couple of things that I want to improve on in the mod (if I can figure out how!):
  • [li]Not load a new page when you add a bookmark, but rather have a Javascript popup that says your bookmark was added so you can stay in the current thread.[/li]
[li]A way to label your bookmarks so you know why you saved it in the first place.[/li]
[li]Categorizing of bookmarks. I.E. having sub-folders within your bookmarks to organize everything you save, such as: interior mods, exterior mods, useful information, off-topic, etc.[/li]

For now I think this will help a lot, but there is definitely room for improvement down the road.

Just so you know, the Bookmarks tab has been moved into the drop-down menu of the 'Profile' tab.

I'm just barely keeping up with all this technology but I'm sure whatever you do, it will be a good thing! LOL!

Haha, I was just noticing that the top Nav Bar was getting a little crowded. In my case I have 'Admin' and 'Moderate' buttons at the top as well, so when I am on my tablet or laptop sometimes the buttons would overflow onto the next line and make it look terrible.

You're doing a fantastic job and we're all thankful that you had the foresight to establish The Club. My wife can't believe how into it I am....really enjoy it and the people.
