Default The Next Chapter for Club Crosstrek

Dear Members,

I acquired this site years a few years ago. This is a great community and everyone who contributes should be proud of our community.

As the years have passed I've started to focus on running websites that are specific to the RVing industry (travel trailers, motorhomes, etc). This past summer I realized that I needed to focus my energy on those sites. I decided to sell a group of websites I owned (including this one) to AutoGuide. They manage forum communities the same way as I do where they have a community manager who works with members (Mods) to deal with issues. I've known these guys for a long time, they are a stand up bunch and it will be business as usual moving forward.

From a forum members perspective this change should be seamless. Nothing is changing, the site will continue to run on the same platform we have been on for years. They invests heavily on servers so the site will mostly likely get faster. They also have an amazing mobile skin so interacting from a mobile browser should improve.

Please welcome Philip and the AutoGuide team to our community.

Kind Regards,

Andy R

Hello everyone,

My name is Phil, I am a community manager for AutoGuide.com, I work with a small team that will continue to manage the webmaster duties for clubcrosstrek.com along with the current moderator team. We are here to help primarily with the technical end of things and help make the jobs of the current Mods/Admins easier. I posted a real basic run down to answer common questions below. If you have more questions or concerns please feel free to post them in response.

What are our intentions?

We bring reliability, support and the infrastructure needed to ensure that the community will continue to be around for years to come. It’s our goal to work with the mod/admin team to help provide the resources and required work to give this community a broader reach, to attract new members, and to better the overall knowledge shared in the community.

Will leadership change?

Continuity is the focus here, YOU as the membership work very hard to keep building this community while your mod/admin team keep the walls and the roof up in this place; we are primarily here to make sure the lights stay on. Every community is unique and should always be respected in that regard. You all have established your own unique rules and regulations and a strong reputation that is carried by all of this. For us it’s paramount to maintain this level of integrity and enthusiasm.

What am I here for?

Our primary role is to be the technical contact; you all contributed to building the strong foundation the site was built on. Moving forward we will all work together to keep the momentum and the community growing. We will be on the forum checking in daily to make sure regular maintenance is taken care of and keeping things running smoothly from behind the scenes. We will also be setting up a help desk on the site for when you have questions or issues with the site or your account and need assistance.

Looking forward to working with you all.

Thanks,
-Philip

I'm very surprised to see this change, especially considering AutoGuide.com is the owner of the other forum of the same type of vehicle.

With two forum domains under the same exact vehicle for a single company, I'm presuming that Club Crosstrek will continue to cater to the North American owners and drivers while the other forum will continue to run with the international market in mind? I'm a bit worried as having two sites with extremely similar unifying reasons makes me wonder about the possibility of doing away with and/or combining Club Crosstrek with the other forum.

However, as long as the forum continues to operate as normal, I welcome the new staff to keep this forum going.

Two houses with different personalities and users. No reason they should change or merge into each other. This site has demonstrated its own path success and this should be continued in the same direction.

Not a fan of what has happened to some other car blogs I used to visit that are now under AutoGuide's authority. Its all very sterile and spirit of the original blog will fade.

A shame but I suppose that's life.

All the best to you Andy R.

Hi all,

I haven't been active on here for quite some time and know a lot of you probably have barely even seen my name around, while others like AWDfreak have been here since I created this site in 2012, so take this for what it's worth.

I'm not part of this or any business decision for ClubCrosstrek since Andy acquired the site from me years ago, but I'd like to implore everyone to approach this with an open mind and give AutoGuide a fair chance. ClubCrosstrek has coexisted with AutoGuide's competing (or now, sister) Crosstrek site since its inception and I've always felt that the two communities have served separate purposes. Just like Philip said (it's confusing because my name is also Philip with one 'L'), it's two houses with different personalities and users.

I wish Andy the best going forward, and remember that you can always email me directly at [email protected]. I may not be active on here anymore, but I'm always willing to help out.

Thanks!

Most everything posted on here also makes its way to "the other forum" anyways...
