Default VigLink marketing links

I just joined and am not happy with the VigLink hyperlinks being created in content I have posted. Is there a way to turn this off?

Advertising is OK, and expected on a free site. However, I don't expect something I write to be converted into a link that goes to a different site.

Thanks!

VigLink is a PUP which gets installed on your computer (by sneaky websites). You need a spyware removal tool like Malwarebytes to get rid of it.

Really? I thought it was something that sites implement to redirect links for Amazon, eBay, etc. so they get credit. I run Malwarebytes and it hasn't complained.

Will check now, thanks!

Nope, not seeing VigLink as an extension in Chrome or anywhere else and Malwarebytes isn't reporting anything...

Do you have the free or premium paid version? The free one won't catch it in real time. You need to run a manual scan.

I don't recall ever having VigLink on my computer, but have had many other PUPs. If some become a problem, I just to do a scan, and it usually cleans out a pile of them, and am good for a while again.

JFYI, I don't get that VigLink on your first post as you have described, so I guess I am pretty clean right now.

I have the premium and it also ran a full scan last night. Nothing reported.

I just went back to my first post and no longer see the VigLink link. Maybe Malwarebytes removed it? I don't see any threats removed in the scan reports, or anything in quarantine.

Found this...
(SOLVED!) How to Remove "CDN.VIGLINK.COM" VIRUS from Chrome, Firefox, Edge, IE browser: "CDN.VIGLINK.COM" Removal Tips
Personally, I don't like manually removing stuff. Would rather use a trusted spyware tool.

Yeah, then it probably did get removed.

Thanks, I found that link too but nothing suspicious in my task manager, etc.

Assuming it's NOT this site doing it, I'll investigate if I see it again.

VigLink provides advertising links on the website to specific keywords. It is not visible by registered members, only for guests.

It is not a virus and does not infect your computer by coming to the site.
