Default NorCal XV Meet - Prairie City SVRA

Thursday, March 10th, 2016

Meet at 7am for Breakfast nearby

Hey guys, I know this is a little last minute and impromptu, but AWDFreak and I are going to meet up to go off roading at Prairie City SVRA East of Sacramento, CA next Thursday. We are going to meet early for breakfast and then hit the park until we are bored. Entrance is $5 to the park.

He went today (because I was unclear and he thought I was up there today instead of next week - sorry again!) so he'll probably post up the conditions of the park. The area should get some rain all week next week, so I'm thinking this will be a good time!

If you want to go, post here that you will, and I'll PM you my cell number and we'll coordinate everything.

Thanks!!

P.S. I'll be bringing my camera and tripod for photos. I can promise I'll take photos, I just can't promise they'll turn out. Still figuring out how to use it!

No need for apologies.

If anything, it was an eye opener!

Some of the obstacles in the obstacle course that I was able to take on a year ago are not exactly what I would call passable for stock vehicles.

There were patches of mud puddles and some big enough that I actually avoided crossing some of them outright.

With the rain coming up, next week will likely be more difficult. Not impossible, but certainly will challenge capable crossovers such as Subaru's own XV Crosstrek.

For those who are unaware, I will bring, as always, my emergency kit which will at the minimum have the following:

* recovery strap with D-ring shackles
* recovery ramps
* first aid kit with some supplies that might make an EMT happy
* emergency supply of food and water (yes, overkill, but I always have it on standby)

As an additional convenience, it would be nice if everyone had FRS band handheld 2-way radios for easy communication.

Oh yeah, I forgot you switched back to stockers! I'm at nearly 25k on my Geolandar AT-S and they are doing awesome! Barely any wear!

I have 2 Cobra CXR-925's and a Cobra handheld CB Radio.

I also have recovery ramps, recovery strap, first aid kit, water, ax, trench tool, and a few other misc things.

So I'd say we're set. Lol.

I enjoy the stock tires in the twisties and then remember their primary downfall when I hit patches of mud.

I know we've got some more NorCal members out there! If you can join and wish to join, please express your desire to attend and maybe we can narrow down where to meet.

So I'm doing an experiment while we're out there. I've coated my entire car in GTechniq EXO, except for half of the front bumper. I want to see what the difference is with mud sticking to it.

Sounds like fun. I used to go there often when I lived in Folsom. I'm sure you guys would get a bigger turnout on a weekend when people aren't working. haha!

I totally agree. But I live in San Diego, and I'm only ever up there for work, during the week. Lol.

Thursday
A 50 percent chance of rain, mainly after 10am. The rain could be heavy at times. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66. South wind 5 to 8 mph. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

I would highly advise those with professional and/or heavy duty rain gear (such as Gore-Tex jacket, trousers, boots, etc) to bring and equip such gear as it would be in your best interests to keep dry and avoid getting sick.
