Default Hauling Goods

Anybody use their CT to haul whitewater kayaking boats on top of it .... if so, how does it effect performance? MPG loss acceleration loss....have an 08 Honda CRV but can't for the love of God put any boats on top of it without assistance.

We hauled a... maybe 17 foot canoe from Oregon to Arizona with our '13 Crosstrek. Acceleration with the CVT is already negligible at best, even laughable, so any wind resistance will make that even worse. Fuel mileage was very slightly worse, but not terrible. The worst part is the wind noise. Kind of a rattly little tin can of a car to start with, and the boat on the roof just made it louder.

I haul my 14' touring kayak on my 2018. Reasonably quiet, can't say that I notice any significant acceleration changes. Haven't done it for long enough distances to really comment on milage changes.

I drove from Calgary to Vancouver this summer with a 10' Kayak on the roof. It didn't affect acceleration at all, but did affect the gas mileage. Highway L/100 Km was significantly affected, in town didn't change much at all. Highway L/100 Km was 2 L/100 Km different from the last trip, for the portion measured (about 600 km), but overall for the trip wasn't significantly different from the summer before. Factors such as the weight of my load wasn't compared, and may have affected the results. I have a manual 2018 Crosstrek.
