Hi, my name is Jeff, and I'm a Japanese vehicle addict. Flatlander in the DFW area mostly.

Sorry folks, no time to do my usual searches on this forum. Trading a 2018 Rav4 Limited Hybrid AWD on a Crosstrek Limited Cool Gray Khaki today. We have a new vacation/rental home in the mountains and now need to drive in snow is a thing. Toyotas since my first car--1978 Corolla. FIRST. SUBARU. EVER.

I've been about 50/50 on extended warranties, but have bought them even on Toyotas. I have never once needed them, but then I change vehicles within 3 years until maybe now. I have sold several vehicles where the transferrable warranty sealed the sale and help get top dollar. BUT, I may need to keep this one longer since I have two house payments......

I did find some "maintenance issues" posts on a large, national discussion forum that I Redd...... ;-)

I realize the Trek is for a different purpose and that purpose may lead to more wear and tear. I will keep up maintenance. What are those things you've experience outside normal that you would advise an extended warranty for? Also, I've only bought warranties when I get them waaaay down from initial asking price. What can I expect on this at Subaru?

Thank you!

I have a 2018 crosstrek Ltd I’m getting ready to sell. It’s below two thirds of what I paid.
At 25000 miles it’s barely broken in.
I got an extra three year warranty (factory).
Mine is with a 250 $ deductible.
I feel my used Crosstrek with factory warranty will sell below what it’s worth because of the newly available 2.5 engine.
However I feel that i can (almost) get what I paid for the warranty on the used car sale.

Thanks. Yeah, I can see that problem with the 2.0, and yet I'm always nervous about a new engine or drive train in a model. I ended up getting a 2021 Cool Gray Khaki Limited. And I DID buy the extended warranty. Initial asking price for the Subaru Gold Protection plan with $100 deductible and 6 years/100K miles was $1690. I laughed and explained that I'll only consider it at or near dealer cost. He showed me his (probably fake) book showing dealer cost of $1060. I paid $1160 for 6/100K extended warranty. New to this forum. Let's see if these pics come through:

Relax it’s not a new engine ( 2.5 ). We have had it twice a 2015 outback and a 2019 outback.
Your new Crosstrek looks great !
