Wanted low profile, so went with Subaru cross bars. Decided on the Thule basket. It helped that the preferred Yakima Loadwarrior is nowhere to be found and even Yakima told me it would be at least end of January. They closed production for months due to COVID. And, my dealer gave me 20% on the available crossbars and Thule basket. I don't need extra heavy duty, which the roof capacity of the Trek won't allow anyway.

Install was straightforward after 10 YouTube vids.... I didn't find instructions a problem, but maybe that was because of YouTube. Though I don't prefer the swooping lines of the Thule, for the price it is mega solid. Very well constructed. Here are some pics:

If your crossbars do not have grooves, how did you mount them? Did your leave those pieces off? Is it stable? Can you please show me close up photos of where the basket is mounted. TIA

looks like you switched the mounting brackets to face inwards...i suppose that would help with not having the end mouldings of the aerobars get in the way. i'm commenting because i'm observing this variation here.
