I replaced the brakes on my 2015 Crosstrek about a week ago. Since then, I heard a slight rhythmic rubbing sound from the front pads that went away when I applied the brakes. Now, however, the rubbing sound is much louder and persists with brake pressure applied. I've checked the calipers and rotors, both are in good condition, and I've checked the spring clips on the front pads to ensure they're seated correctly. The brake fluid reservoir was at the "max" line and I lowered it to just above mid-way full.

Is there anything else I can check before I resort to taking it in to the shop?

Do the pads move freely? I know when I did mine, there was rust under the clips that needed removed to allow the pads to slide correctly. Without doing so, the pads would stick. Also have to properly grease them. The pins should also be re greased. Just be sure to put them back in the correct position as the 2 pins are not the same.

My pad backs had to be filed down they had some extra metal from the manufacturing process and we’re sticking. A quick file down fixed them up.
