Buzzing sound from passenger rear wheel well when car is turned off (very intermittent problem)

2021 Outdoor trim in BC, Canada. I just bought this car in October. This problem has occurred three times now so it is very intermittent and I can't replicate it predictably. After I get home and park the car in the garage, I turn it off (and I don't hear any noise - but maybe it's because the garage door is still open) and go inside. Two or three hours later there is a buzzing noise coming from the passenger side rear wheel well. In order to make it stop, I have to start the car and then shut it off. I sent a video recording of the sound to the dealership twice but the service people have no idea what might be causing it. Is there a servo motor or something in the ABS or traction control system?

Thoughts?

Google - You may hear a noise from under the vehicle approximately 5 to 10 hours after the engine is turned off. However, this does not indicate a malfunction. This noise is caused by the operation of the fuel evaporation leakage checking system and is normal. The noise will stop after approximately 15 minutes.

Thanks! I did read much/most of the owners manual but don't remember seeing this. I may have glossed over it as I thought it might only apply to California emissions standards. I also sent the info to the Subaru dealership as they had no idea what it was.
Also - in my previous car, a 2005 Kia Spectra5, I had managed to pollute the purge valve (part of the emission control system) and had to get that repaired as it was causing all sorts of stalling issues. When filling up with gas, I NEVER top off the gas anymore as that was what caused the problem with the Kia. I only hold the pump lever to when it automatically shuts off the flow and that's it, I remove the pump from the fuel intake. (Many people probably already know this.) Interesting thing was that it took me owning the car for 12 years before the problematic stalling occurred.

I am so thankful for this. I bought my car used a few months ago and since then I have had to put in a new engine and more. It's been an auto money pit, I am all out of funds, and nearly out of tears. When I heard this noise my stomach turned to knots thinking it was yet another costly problem. I am so happy to have found your page. The information is god sent. Thank you.

I heard this the other night in the garage. Thought it very strange but figured the dealer has a tow truck and the car didn't even have permanent plates yet, so went in and didn't think much of it.
Good to know, and I never thought to check here, much less the OM.

Did you find this in the OM?? I scoured it cover to cover and didn’t see it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! On day 6 of a 7 day return period with a 2021 Subaru Forester from Carvana. Went to let the dogs out through the garage and thought the car was going to blow up. Googled the problem and found your answer. I was completely panicked! What a life saver! Thank you genius person!!

I sure hope that is the problem. Turned off the car at 3pm, went out about 730 to close up for the night. The garage was buzzing. I looked everywhere. Took the car out , closed it up and the buzz stopped. Put the car away and no buzz now. My fuel light did come on so I have about 30 mi left on this tank. Honda CR-V AWD 2020.
Very helpful and dead on! Thank you for posting!

Yes, it's in the owner's manual. Page 9, in the introductory section.
