Independent Fog Light mod?

I will be converting my fog lights over to H11 assemblies (following this very nice write-up), and want to mod the fog light wiring so they can be turned on with parking lights, as well as low beams. I don't care if they stay on with highs. I want the stock switch and dash indicator light to still be functional. Has anyone done this or looked into doing it on the '13/'14 Crosstrek/Impreza?

I followed write-ups for my '05 Outback (seen here on LegacyGT) and also found a similar write-up (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2404593) for the '08+ Imprezas on NASIOC. But I'm 99% sure that the new generation Impreza/Crosstrek is probably different.

If this hasn't been attempted, can anyone locate some wiring schematics that I could read over?

So I presume this would allow 4th gen Impreza and XV drivers to run all three lights??? (low beams, high beams, fog lights)

Because this is a modification I've been hoping for to pop up. Thanks for sharing!!!

Yes, I believe so. How do our high beams operate - do the lows stay on? My '05 Outback and '06 Legacy did, so I'm assuming these do too. Their foglight mod was a bit different than this one so the fogs actually did turn off with the highs on.

I've only had the Crosstrek for 4 days so I've forgotten to check out our highs. My only intention was to be able to drive with just the fogs and parking lights ( I prefer this combo over the stock 50% low beam DRL's), but having the option to run with all three is nice too, especially where I go camping. Damn porcupines.

Fogs with parking is easier than fogs on their own. If you want to tap power from the parking lights then they will come on at the same time but you will have to have parkings on to put fogs on.

Remember your DRL's are your high beams at half power, not your lows at regular. The reason for this is you need to be able to flash your high beams independently from the rest of the system.

Also remember too that legally you are not supposed to run more than two sets of lights at a time (4 total lights) so that is why most cars when you flash your highs, it will cut off your fogs to stay within DOT regulations. Might just be a PA state law but still, heads up. :)
