Me ( iPhone 6S 128 ) 8 inch harmon kardon with Nav.

When iOS 12 final release hits the iPhone apple car play users will supposedly get to use additional navigation software including Waze and Google Maps.

Yesterday I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 12 beta. The upgrade went off for me without a hitch. The phone is noticeably faster! Today I cautiously tried it in the car, and am pleased to report that it also worked flawlessly.
Just to be sure I deleted the car stereo in my iPhone and the head unit and phone found each other again in seconds. Much faster than ever before! In fact the whole phone is something like 40 to 60 % faster.

The non-event is that no new apps have been green lighted yet. No google maps, yet.
Apple will probably let this happen when the new iPhones are announced in the fall.

Cheers

iOS 12 is released seems great! still no new Navigation software for CarPlay

I think at this point it's up to third party Apps to write their apps for CarPlay now they can.

iOS 12 was released on September 14 and sometime during the last few days both Google maps and Waze have been updated to work.
It’s going to be a while before I get to be familiar enough with either, but too be sure they are here!

PS. There’s also an app called Car that also somehow appeared.
