Hi All,
Just found this forum and decided to join in. I am in the UK and have just ordered a new Crosstrek from my local dealer. Should have it in about 7 days. Here in the UK it is just called a Subaru XV, the Crosstrek name isn't used here.
I have driven BMW for years (about 12 different ones, one after the other), the last one was a 2008 3 series coupe. looked great but not good to drive, in rain or snow the handling was near dangerous, which is where my AWD interest came from. Back in winter 2011 I had enough of the BMW sliding around and bought at used Toyota RAV4 Diesel 10 years old with 100k on the clock and just loved it. In fact for the next year I only drove the BMW 4 times.
So I decided to get one car to replace the BMW and the Toyota. My 11 year old daughter hates the smell of leather in cars so I was looking for a smallish 4WD SUV with good spec but no leather. Here in the UK most reasonable spec cars come with leather as standard. After loads of research my short list was Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi ASX and Subaru XV. I test drove all 3 and all were pretty good. In the end I went for the Subaru as it drove well, it was more compact than the other two and had pretty much everything I wanted.
i negotiated the price with the dealer and now await my new Subaru.
