Hey Folks -- Just checking in. Took delivery of my new Subaru Crosstrek XV last Saturday. It's the Premium with the 2.0 CVT and I love it so far. Had an issue with the steering drifting to the right, but took it straight back to the dealer. He rotated the tires and that seems to have solved the problem. Looking forward to doing some conservative "mudding" in the near future and hope to share stories and learn a lot from the rest of you. This is my first Subaru and I'm excited to join the community.

Cheers.
Ray

Yeah, I find a roof rack is pretty useless without the cross bars, so I ordered them when I ordered the car. Hood protector is on the way, too.

Hello and welcome! Thank you for signing up, I hope you find what you're looking for here. I'll be honest, when Subary started advertising the orange color for the Crosstrek I was a little thrown off, but the more and more "real life" photos I see of it, the more I learn to love it.

Let us know how it does in your mudding adventures.

You've heard this before, I'm sure, but photos don't do it justice. It's not nearly as bright an orange as it looks. I was afraid it was going to be a "San Francisco Giants" orange. Living in the Bay Area and being a Padres fan, I didn't want crazed Giants fans giving me thumbs up all the time. :)

It's actually "creamier" than that and doesn't look at all like it does in pictures. I really like it, and it's certainly easy to spot in a crowded mall parking lot.

Welcome! Looks like another member of the SF Bay Area has joined! (I'm in the south bay)

If you have already, how fun is it around one of the local mountain passes? And the mud, when will the porno-, er pictures get here???

Just highway duty so far, but I like it. My Civic seats were more comfortable, but perhaps these just take some getting used to. I love the upholstery and the interior, although the dash array is utilitarian at best. I find myself looking for the gas gauge over and over again, but that will pass. The CVT is much more responsive than reviewers have given it credit for, and while the paddle shifters seem to work just fine, I find that mashing the pedal to the floor works just as well. Still trying to find a steering wheel angle that is comfortable and lets me see the MPH when I'm at highway speeds, but I'll get that sorted out too, eventually. A digital readout for MPH would be appreciated, but I can live with the old-school needle.

With the holidays around the corner, I'm not sure when I'll get the chance to get any mudding done, but I'll certainly let you know my impressions and post some photos when the time comes.

And thanks for all the welcomes.
Cheers.

Awesome awesome. Another question: you say you're from San Francisco area, how is the Crosstrek/CVT handling the steep hills? I have never been to San Fran but everything I see is steep hills everywhere! Is the Crosstrek working really hard to pull up the hills?

I'm across the bay from the city and haven't been over there with the Crosstrek yet. Will report out when I get the chance.

Congrats to you! You actually got an orange. I have yet to see one on the road. Quite frustrating given that all the commercials and reviews are in orange. I got the red cause I couldn't wait any longer. I've only seen 2 so far in the New York area. One black and another red in Jersey City. Looking forward to seeing an orange in person and hope I don't have buyer's remorse.

Had to order it "sight unseen" as my dealer only had a blue one and a red one in stock. I haven't seen any others of any color on the road yet and I like it that way. Not that I don't wish Subaru success, but I like having a unique vehicle that you don't see thousands of on the road.
