Being the third Subaru for me, starting in '77, they have come a LONG way. The XV is a very together package.

In 1977 there was a DL Coupe, fwd car, stick. It had the boxer-4 motor. It was kind of a homely little car. IIRC it was about $6K. Mine was kind of a gold-silver with a half vinyl top in blue. It was pretty sporty in it's day and even then went just terrific offroad. The spare tire was mounted over the motor, making for LOTS of trunk space.
