The Lovely Mrs Sinker drives a 2011 Outback 3.6R Limited (The Newbaru), and I beat around in a 2003 Forester X (The Blubaru), which is approaching 130k trouble-free miles. We're seriously considering replacing the Blubaru with a new XV Crosstrek so I thought I'd join here so I can re-ask annoying questions, and you can tell me that the search function is my friend ;D.

Seriously, I'll be poking around a bit and looking for info on choosing an interior (how hot does the dark leather really get?), towing, and driving in the sand.

Welcome to CCT. You have made a smart choice to find valuable here on the XV's. I have the ivory leather in my SWP Limited CVT. I am in the high desert region and opted for the lighter color for heat reasons. We get pretty hot here and didn't want the oven affect. Tinting the front windows has been a vast improvement holding out the heat and I recommend it with whatever interior you choose. .

Hi Sinker, glad to see you are considering the Crosstrek!

I have the black interior myself. I have yet to drive mine in the dead of summer, but on the hotest days here in MD so far (~90) I have found the leather to be warm, but not hot. I find that the leather steering wheel is actually cooler than the plastic one.

Welcome and do keep us posted once you do get your new XV!

Like XTrekr, I have the Satin White Pearl CVT with the sand beige leather interior. I too opted for the lighter color because.. no way around it... it's "Hades" hot here (Arizona). No matter the leather color, it's going to burn the behind if you only have shorts on. But, I stuck with the leather for the durability as compared to the cloth.

Next step to help with the extreme heat, I have the 3M nano-tint on the list which actually lowers temperature inside (as compared to just shielding the rays). I put it in my Land Rover LR2 and it works wonders. So, this is next on the list for me. Once I have that done and put on a cool-touch leather steering wheel cover, I'll be set! :)

Welcome, thanks for signing up! I can't comment on the black interior as I have the taupe in my CBS Crosstrek, but I will say you're making a wise decision considering the XV! ;)

The search function is always your friend but never feel like you can't post up any question!

Thanks guys, lots of good info. I've already gone from absolutely shore I wanted a Premium in Dessert Khaki to seriously considering Limiteds in both Satin White Pearl and Tangerine Orange Pearl. And I've become obsessed with plasti-dip after hearing of it for the first time 24 hours ago!
