First time dealing with CVT, Subaru does not make it easy with all the differing types AND dealer parts/service department not very confident in what to use except for whatever is in that $400 5 gallon bucket that may or may not void my extended warranty.
2023 Crosstrek Sport w/CVT (non-manual T690 transmission)
Just hit 36,000 so would like to do DIY preventative maintenance drain and fill of gear oils: CVT, FRONT DIFF and REAR DIFF.
I just need confirmation of OEM fluids for each mechanism and possible aftermarket alternatives.
I’m mechanically inclined and have done a lot of research, but still hesitant with what is appropriate for my specific application for the CVT. Diff fluid for both front and rear 75w-90 API GL-5 seems more straightforward.
Anyone have first hand knowledge or experience with TR690 CVT fluid and which OEM # or best aftermarket alternatives to use? Specifically for 2023 Crosstrek Sport? I know it may be few and far between since we all may be just hitting the recommended maintenance interval/3 years from purchase.
Thanks in advance!
